LTC In-Person Convention Cancellation

Your LTC Board met last night and prayed for God’s guidance as to what would be the best path forward with the challenges we face in our community and the world. As others have said, this is all new to us, and no one could have predicted we’d be where we all are now with the concern of the COVID-19 virus.

After prayerful consideration, we have elected to cancel the in-person conference scheduled for April 10-12, 2020.  We have successfully negotiated a reduced cancellation fee for the conference space with the Hilton Santa Clara, and they have proven to be a great partner with whom to work. This will still be a large financial cost to LTC which we will all need to work to resolve in the future. The Hilton will cancel all hotel rooms under the LTC block starting on Monday of next week, so you don’t have to cancel your rooms yourselves.  If you don’t want your room canceled, please contact me by 8:00pm Sunday night.

Now, for where LTC is going for this year… As a board, we are committed to spreading God’s word just like all of you so do well. As such, we are working on a method to still be able to recognize the great work our students have completed this year. From Scripture Challenge, to Bible, Quiz, to the many other events each student has worked so hard on, we acknowledge that and know that many blessings have already come from their hard work.  We are considering a way to have a “virtual” conference. This will take a little time for us to figure out (if anyone wants to help with this, we’d appreciate the help so please contact me directly), so we ask your patience. In the meantime, we are still processing the pre-convention work and will be looking to acknowledge those individuals in the near future as well.

Most importantly, we thank God for each and every one of you. You are the reason that God’s Word is spreading through LTC.  We are pained by having to cancel the in-person conference in Santa Clara but are actively looking for other ways to encourage our students and be the light that our Lord wants us to be.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.

In His service,

Phil Weiss, on behalf of the LTC-WR Board of Directors
